Muesli is 100% local dictation plus Granola-style meeting transcription with speaker labels — no bot joining your calls. It's macOS 14.2+, Apple Silicon only, with no Android app.
Muesli (836 ★, MIT) is dictation plus local meeting transcription with speaker labels, entirely on-device, with no bot joining your calls to capture them. It publishes the clearest model table found in this research — Parakeet v3 (25 languages, ~0.13s), Nemotron 3.5 (100+ locales), Cohere 2B (~1s), and Whisper Large Turbo (~2–4s) — which makes the accuracy/speed tradeoff self-explanatory rather than a guess.
It's macOS 14.2+, Apple Silicon only. There's no Windows, Linux, iOS, or Android build. OpenWispr doesn't currently match its meeting-transcription feature, but it does run on Android and on Intel Macs, neither of which Muesli covers.
Meeting transcription with speaker labels, running entirely on-device with no bot joining the call, is a meaningfully different capability from single-utterance dictation — and Muesli ships it well. Its published model table is also the clearest thing of its kind found across this whole research effort: four models with size, latency, and language-count spelled out, so "why pick one over another" answers itself instead of requiring trial and error.
Its permission model is worth copying directly: request Accessibility only when it unlocks pasting, Input Monitoring only when it unlocks the hotkey, Screen/Audio only when it unlocks meetings — instead of a wall of dialogs at first launch. That's a better first-run experience than most apps in this category, OpenWispr's current flow included.
Muesli requires Apple Silicon specifically — no Intel Mac support, and nothing on Windows, Linux, iOS, or Android. OpenWispr runs on Android today and doesn't require an M-series chip on macOS.
If meeting transcription isn't something you need and your device isn't a Silicon Mac, Muesli isn't reachable at all; OpenWispr is.
